Sandy Dunn has sold local handcrafts from her cozy cottage store next to Chestnut restaurant on route 64 in Lake Toxaway for seven years. Today’s fog didn’t keep the customers away, but she said they were sure complaining about it. Guess they wanted to see all those gorgeous trees. She is open seasonally so hurry up if you want to catch her before she closes on November 1st, or make a day of it in May when she reopens her Maple Rose Mountain Gift Shop.
Local author and researcher Jan C. Plemmons stopped by with her booklet about upper Transylvania County loaded with pictures about local family and business history. It will sit next to her other two books already on the shelf at Maple Rose.
